Client Money Protection
Letting agents in England that hold client money are required to belong to a Client Money Protection scheme. The scheme exists to reimburse landlords and tenants if an agent fails to account for client money it has received — for example rent, or money held for repairs.
What this covers
Client money includes rent collected on a landlord's behalf and any funds held for the management of a property. Tenancy deposits are handled separately, in accordance with tenancy deposit legislation and the terms of the tenancy agreement.
Our certificate
Our current Client Money Protection certificate is available on request and a copy is displayed at our office at 1 Frederick Place, Crouch End. To be sent a copy, email info@howardandmanning.com or call 020 8202 7686.
Questions
If you would like the specific arrangements that apply to your property or tenancy confirmed in writing — including which scheme applies and how deposits are held — please ask and we will send them to you.
